DREAMING (WIDE AWAKE)
"Set against a backdrop of subtle nostalgia, the music video for “Dreaming, wide awake” takes the form of a short film to explore the light and shadow of adolescence, suspended between expectations, desires, and daydreams.
With a body and face still touched by childhood, Zeno—the 14-year-old protagonist wandering through the vastness of Los Angeles—gently expresses the need to find his place in the world, aware, as the lyrics suggest, that “I’m sorry for being a little weird.”
His life is constantly monitored by a social algorithm that tracks his daily routines, mood swings, and emotions translated into actions—a reflection of a society increasingly obsessed with controlling what is right and wrong, yin and yang—showing how easily our existence can be swayed by something as fleeting as a “cloud” hiding the sun.
The only times Zeno manages to break free from the algorithm’s grip are the simplest: when he’s surrounded by friends, when he escapes reality by slipping on his wired headphones, when he finally disappears into music.
Then comes a transformation: like clouds parting to reveal a clear sky, the algorithm vanishes in the presence of a now-adult figure, finally free from the rules and the fear of judgment, moving through the world fully illuminated.
Just like a waking dream".
